The Opportunity…

We have a great opportunity for a Junior Software Developer. This new role requires involvement in all aspects of software development and user support. We are looking to recruit someone with the transferrable skills who can quickly add value to the Software Team who are responsible for developing Visualfiles.

You will assist individuals, groups and senior staff in decision making, project planning and task estimations. Dealing with day-to-day operational problems that occur and deliver quality code on time you will enjoy a variety of different work and will be comfortable delivering reports, websites, software solutions and supporting users.

You will be a key figure in the backbone of the company and supporting our mantra of technology disruption in the Legal sector. This position may be based in one of our hub offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen.

The role…

  • Manage work, including: software design/prototyping, testing, estimations and task allocation, implementation, documentation and delivery.
  • Work as individually and as part of a team on development projects, and ensure that the final solution meets the agreed requirements, quality, deadlines and definition of done.
  • Collaborate with the team to prioritise business needs, task plans.
  • Participate in product demos and team meetings, proactively participate in improving the development process and themselves.
  • Providing product support & assistance investigating internal and external customer raised issues.

 

The requirements…

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A strong desire to seek out the latest technologies and keep up-to-date.
  • Experience of a least one modern programming language (Java, C#)
  • Web Development Technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP)
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Integration development

The Opportunity…

We have opportunities within our growing Remortgage Department based in Glasgow. This team carries out all conveyancing aspects in connection with Remortgage transactions.

Our Remortgage work is undertaken under our Simpson & Marwick brand and is carried out by a large team of property lawyers and paralegals who are based in our Glasgow office. Our team is busy and fast growing, dealing with large volumes of instructions but supported by excellent legal technology and administrative support teams.

The Trainee Remortgage role is our pathway to becoming a Conveyancing Paralegal and possibly becoming a Specialist Accredited Paralegal for the best candidates. This is an office based role.

The role…

  • Obtain and interpret instructions from lender clients and customers
  • Examine and extract relevant title information from Search Reports in order to prepare Standard Security and Discharge documentation
  • Identify any title defect and highlight any potential risk to lender clients
  • Examine and process completed deeds/documentation ensuring they comply with legal requirements and that all relevant information has been provided
  • Liaise with lender clients in relation to obtaining Redemption Statements and Title Deeds
  • Examine lease documentation and ensuring they comply with current legislation
  • Process mortgage offers – having the ability to identify any special conditions
  • Examine Redemption Statements and identify any penalties
  • Calculate figures for completion and request loan funds from lenders
  • Process finance documentation to redeem existing the lender’s security and distribute any remaining funds
  • Submit Standard Security/Discharge documentation for registration following completion

 

The requirements…

  • You should have Maths and English at a Higher/Nat 5 Level
  • Experience of working with a case management system
  • Be interested in IT and have a good knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Client-focussed
  • Good time management skills and be able to use your own initiative to meet strict deadlines
  • Used to working as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

If you have recently completed a relevant Modern Apprenticeship or are working in a Customer Service role or in and administrative role that are looking for career progression would be well suited to the position.

The Opportunity…

We have an extremely exciting opportunity for an experienced Legal Cashier based in our Glasgow offices. This is a permanent fulltime position with the opportunity for the right candidate to develop their existing skill set and experience in a dynamic, busy environment.

The role…

  • Processing high volume CHAPS payments in line with company procedures.
  • Banking client and office accounts.
  • Processing invoices received to matter ledgers.
  • Processing remittance advices for all supplier payments.
  • Preparation of weekly/monthly billing in line with client requirements.
  • Ensuring decisions on receipts and payments are in line with the Law Society, the firm, and client’s requirements.
  • Liaising with fee earners and suppliers, maintaining a good working relationship inside and outside of the firm.
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations.
  • Providing timely information to other members of the Accounts team and the wider firm.
  • Understanding and adhering to the Law Society of Scotland accounts rules.

 

The requirements…

  • Previous legal accounts experience minimum of 2 years.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently to deadlines.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
